How it all started

After 20 years in transportation and logistics, what CEO Jeff Silver learned was this: he wanted to bring a better experience to the industry.

Brokers would often commit to move loads for a shipper, but wouldn’t always follow through, failing on their commitments and stressing customers’ supply chains. Jeff and Chief People Officer Marianne Silver founded Coyote to provide another alternative to shippers—a company rich in innovation, imaginative in technology, and committed to service.

Marianne agreed, but on one condition—that Coyote would be a company where people could be happy at work and feel like they belonged to something bigger than themselves. She dreamed of a unique culture that would foster leadership development and significantly impact people’s careers and lives. As a pack, we truly believe we can change this industry and be successful. How? By doing the right thing every time, no matter who is looking.

Jeff always says, “I want customers to say we provide the best possible service every day. That’s what I care about.” Every day that mission is supported by the Coyote pack. With our proprietary technology, smart people, and resounding commitment, we adapt to and deliver on our customers’ needs for timely transportation, visibility, and insight. Nothing moves without our contracted carriers, and that’s why we appreciate everything they do. From one-load lanes to dedicated opportunities, we keep contracted carriers’ trucks loaded and on the move. We care about building relationships, which is why we offer one point of contact—every carrier works with a dedicated Coyote representative to find the best solutions for loading their trucks. And our mobile innovations like CoyoteGO, Coyote Text, and Coyote Tracking make life on the road easier and more efficient for carriers.

We share in each other’s success. We take care of each other, because everyone matters. We hire the best, but continue to learn every day. We live up to every promise we make. These values are deeply ingrained in every Coyote. From the very beginning, we’ve aimed to do things differently. We’re a proud philanthropic supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, having raised more than $825,000 in four years through employee-driven fundraising initiatives. Help us raise money this 2015 fundraising season! As an industry partner of the City Colleges of Chicago’s College to Careers initiative, we provide educational opportunities to students preparing to enter the transportation, distribution, and logistics workforce. And we’re a proud sponsor of the Chicago Mission, a tier I AAA hockey club, for which we’re aiming to be the strongest and most value-added program, both on and off the ice, in the country. Corporate social responsibility is at the heart of our business, and we seek to incorporate it in everything we do. We constantly seek to reduce waste and eliminate inefficiencies, whether it’s in the form of electricity, materials, or empty backhaul miles—the miles a truck travels on a return trip without hauling freight. From streamlining our customers’ supply chains to rationalizing our own operations, we are constantly working to benefit the environment and the communities in which we operate.
