[SupplyChain Digital] September 1, 2011 — Coyote Logistics may not be as high profile as the other companies on this list, but that doesn’t mean it’s less worthy of recognition. Jeff Silver founded Coyote Logistics just five years ago, after spending 15 years at American Backhaulers – a freight brokerage in Chicago. Silver combined his industry expertise with a master’s degree in logistics from MIT and an MBA from the University of Michigan to establish Coyote – a third party logistics provider focused on equitable dealing and a goal to provide “the best experience in transportation.”
“Before I started Coyote, I have people come to me and say, ‘American Backhaulers was the greatest company I’ve ever worked for,’” Silver told Inc.com. “We wanted to create that magic again.”
Silver’s mission was accomplished and Coyote Logistics shot to a milestone last year, making its first appearance in the Inc. 500 list of top growing companies in 2010.
Inc. estimates that Coyote Logistics has grown 13847% in the past three years, making it the 6th fastest-growing private company in the U.S. and the absolute fastest in the entire logistics industry.
Coyote Logistics’ monumental success can be attributed to Silver’s management style, which includes extensive employee training and mentoring, passion for the industry and a hands-on approach.
“I don’t have an office,” Silver told the Chicago Tribune. “I sit out on the floor with them and lead by example.”
