Chicago, IL—August 12, 2014—Coyote Logistics announced its title sponsorship of the newly renamed Coyote Logistics Hockey City Classic. Created by Intersport, the event will bring top-tier collegiate hockey back to Chicago’s Soldier Field on February 7, 2015. The Classic features Michigan State University versus the University of Michigan and Miami University versus Western Michigan University.
“Sponsoring the Coyote Logistics Hockey City Classic is a unique opportunity,” said Coyote CEO and Cofounder Jeff Silver. “This event showcases the skills of these exceptional student-athletes at an iconic venue in our hometown of Chicago. Friendly competition is one of Coyote’s values, and this event promotes that friendly competition between these great schools. It also allows Coyote to further support the community, customers, carriers, and employees.”
Coyote, headquartered in the Logan Square neighborhood, is a third-party logistics (3PL) provider that employs approximately 2,000 employees across the country, more than half of which work out of the Chicago office. Coyote has a long history of hiring former college athletes and embraces the pack mentality in which these athletes thrive. Coyote also sponsors the Chicago Mission, a top Tier 1 AAA Hockey Club, and the two organizations work together to ensure players flourish in athletics, academics, and life.
“Intersport is thrilled to announce Coyote Logistics as title sponsor of the Hockey City Classic,” said Intersport VP of Sports Properties Drew Russell. “We created this event to celebrate the sport of ice hockey on Chicago’s grandest stage—the iconic Soldier Field. As a Chicago-based company with an established presence in the local hockey community, Coyote Logistics is the absolute perfect sponsor. Coyote was an associate sponsor of the inaugural Hockey City Classic in 2013, and it’s exciting to see the relationship grow. We look forward to delivering great value back to Coyote Logistics and putting on another unforgettable event.”
The inaugural Hockey City Classic—the first outdoor hockey games played at Soldier Field—attracted more than 52,000 fans in 2013. In addition, more than 100,000 people attended the 80 events that made up the Hockey City Classic Winter Festival, an eighteen-day celebration at Soldier Field. The 2015 Festival will include open and corporate skates, hockey clinics, exhibition matches, and exclusive hospitality events.
Game times and broadcast details for the 2015 Coyote Logistics Hockey City Classic will be announced at a later date. Tickets will go on sale to the general public in October.
